Role: back and front dev in a startup team. Koliving is an apartment rental platform.
The stack, with services I'd never used
This is where the project got interesting. On top of React, NestJS, and GraphQL, the team used tools I hadn't come across yet:
- PostHog: product analytics, feature flags, all in one
- Tolgee: translation management, simple and well thought out
- Thumbor: image manipulation on the fly, cropping, resizing
What I learned
It was my first time in a startup, and it's another way of working. Every task has to move fast so you get feedback as early as possible. No time to polish something for three weeks.
Communication was a bit confusing at the start, but the team is friendly and open, so it went fine.
And working from my own desk, honestly, I don't get tired of it.
